Our undergroundrefused to disappear.

Statement

This is not a music documentary.

For 30 years, Lebanese rap grew in garages and back rooms, in prison cells and late-night studios, in battles where the only prize was being remembered.

It produced legends nobody wrote down, feuds nobody settled, and names that vanished before anyone thought to ask where they went. There were verses written in prison and verses that put people there. There was blood, betrayal, and loyalty that outlived both: the ones who made it, and the ones who didn’t come back.

Some of them are ready to talk. Some of them have never been asked.

This is the first time anyone is asking.

“This is the first definitive visual record of a movement that refused to disappear. And now, for the first time, the world is watching.”

Nizar Zgheib

Born in Byblos in 1993, Nizar Zgheib began rapping at the turn of the decade and rose to become the most-streamed and most recognized Lebanese rapper of all time, a position built entirely on organic reach, with no paid promotion behind a single number. He studied Cinema at university and holds a Master's degree with distinction in Cinema Direction from the Lebanese University, pairing the instincts of a recording artist with the eye of a filmmaker. At Garage Studio (formerly Bloodz Records), he works as a sound designer, mixing engineer, and producer, with a focus on hip-hop alongside film scoring across every genre. Together with Anthony Samarany, he headlined the biggest rap concerts the country has seen. He dominated the scene at its peak and remains a force to be reckoned with.

Anthony Samarany

Born in Byblos in 1997, Anthony Samarany is one of the most prominent and influential figures in Lebanese rap, an artist whose distinct voice and uncompromising projects helped shape the sound of an entire scene. He studied Cinema, and that sensibility runs through everything he makes: he was the first Lebanese rapper to break into the local trending charts, and the one who trended the most, but his deepest mark came from what he did with the image. By introducing a new standard of video production and a signature editing style entirely his own, he redefined what a Lebanese music video could be, raising the bar so high that the rest of the scene had no choice but to follow. Alongside Nizar Zgheib, he performed the biggest rap concerts and live shows in the history of Lebanese music.
